Ah, the world keeps on spinning, don't it? I've had a very difficult last couple of weeks financially and workwise. Oppressive work environment, no money (see previous entries) and no sleep. Suddenly...(TADAH!) the world turns. Thursday morning my car started smoking. I was already late to work and the road I normally take to get there was closed down for construction. I had NO CLUE how to get to work. finally got there and I was in the WORST mood. I finally decided that I needed to get the car taken care of. I left work and drove to my mechanic who wasn't sure whether or not he'd be able to get me in or not. My friend Julie and her husband picked me up. When I got home, I decided to look over my ailing finances. I had really screwed them up somehow, and the financial aid office hadn't called me to tell me, so when I called "just to make sure" everything was okay, they informed me that some documents were unsigned. I went in and signed them while picking up my college ID. I asked him to spell out EXACTLY what I was going to be getting from the school. after all was said and done and I had rechecked my figures about 9 times, I came to the conclusion that I had misallocated about $4000.00 (that's right, 4 Grand) in funds. Thank god it was in my favor!!! i had been in the red for almost the entire school year and was already beginning to try some ingenius ways to save money...like eating nothing. Suddenly, I have almost a 3 grand cushion for almost the entire year! i can buy fUrniturE! woohoooo!

Anyhow...my day is far from done. On Tuesday night, my buddy and I were playing games and this beautiful young woman ran by and my very classy buddy, thinking she had on her headphones, commented "Hey, Legs!" from my balcony. She turned and waved and he almost crawled under the couch. I laughed and that was that. About an hour later she was under my balcony (R&J anyone?), apparently looking for her keys. We went out and helped her and gave a her a flashlight to look elsewhere. She dropped by to give us the flashlight back, as she had not found them and needed to call to get a spare key. I got her number and said we should grab a movie sometime. My buddy was all like, "Dude...why didn't you charm her and mention how good she looked." I was like, "Don...dude...she's a woman, not a girl...and seemingly a smart one. She got the message when I asked her to see a flick, I don't need to sully this thing by trying to manipulate her with a bunch of empty flattery...if I think she looks good and it's apprpriate, I'll tell her...it wasn't"

Anyhow...back to Thursday. I had no way to go back and get my car and she was the only person whose number I had. I called her and she gladly helped me out. She's a 29year old comp sci/info systems PhD student working for Boeing. Wow. Really sweet. So, we solidified plans. There's definitely a spark there, but you know what? I am going to take it way easy. This is someone I would rather have as a friend than a...nothing, or worse, an enemy.

So, i get back and cash my work check, only to find about $425.00 in my account which shouldn't be there. I call up and find out that it's a bonus I am supposed to be getting in 2 WEEKS! and it was only supposed to be for $350, based on my current wages, rather than the ones from when I was in MN. Suddenly...I am in the green! bought pizza, finished Need For Speed: High Stakes and went out to rent Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver for the PSX. Outstanding game. Went to work yesterday, was happy, came home and shopped the shit out of the grocery store so I COULD EAT!!!! Went Rockin' Bowling with Don, who works at the alley for extra cash, and we had two beers! (my first beer in like 1 1/2 months! (No reason...just no beer around, I guess) and then we went back to my place and had some mixed drinks. We are both SUPER lightweights, so we wuz a little wonky, but we hung out til about 3.

I woke up this morning and went to a yard sale and bought a t-shirt and some cds. On the way back I ran into the PhD...we'll call her "Doc". we talked for about 20 minutes. Very cool. I am going to go see "Iron Giant" and "Stigmata" matinees today. I need to cruise. Talk to you all soon. Fate and Fortune rule the day. If ever you think that the world is unfair to you, you have lost the ability to change it. It is the ebb and flow of life. Dig it, baby...heh.
